Can I just indulge in a rambling comment about that first panel? This will be absolutely spoilerific, please be cautious, tumblr!
Thor has been through so much due to Loki - dropped out of a flying fortress comes to mind, but that’s far from the beginning or the end of it. It must have been infuriating. Incomprehensible. After all, Thor loves Loki, and I believe that Loki still loves Thor, and that must have so often begged the question of “isn’t that enough?” Because I think, for Thor, love is enough, love is always enough.
Yet for Loki it isn’t, cannot be. Too much pain in his life, too much loneliness despite not being alone, too many disparities and shocks. But through all that turbulence and confusion and inability to truly understand one another, Thor has stuck by him. Inevitably. Permanently.
And the first panel just seems to sum all of that up for me. After everything that has happened, after Loki is his prisoner, he still takes his arm. He doesn’t grab it hard or yank him around, not like someone might treat an actual prisoner, but just grabs it - and when Loki pulls away, as he has to, Thor lets him. It says so much to me, that tiny interaction. That Thor would still reach out, even under those circumstances. That Loki would still pull back, proud even now. And that Thor would let him.
I normally try to stay away from meta. Mainly because it’s a floodgate just begging to be opened, and I don’t think I’d ever get those doors closed again afterwards. But this? This called for it anyway.
“Because I think, for Thor, love is enough, love is always enough.”
This is one of the reason I like so much Thor.
